This fireplace mantel shelf has the classic styled crown molding trimmed along the top of the box/body part of the mantel. The crown molding has smooth uninterrupted transitioning curves. The light will softly bounce from these curves illuminating the variety of depths in the mantel. The body/box of the mantel is made at 4 inches deep (from wall to front); 4.25 inches deep including the bottom trim. The top shelf part of the mantel is sanded smoothly, showcasing the grains of the wood from one end to the other. The bottom and the top edges are trimmed with wood-carved trim, directly into the mantel itself; at which point, we softly sand the entire mantel making sure it has slightly rounded curves and edges to offset the wood and box of the body. It comes together perfectly. No wonder it’s a Classic! Our mantels are hollow in the back. This makes the shelves lightweight — easy to lift and maneuver when hanging on your wall or fireplace. This also allows for our use of the French Cleat to hang them. We have custom-designed/custom-made our mantel cleats from solid wood. They are super easy to hang but are able to handle the weight of the mantel, keeping it straight, and then some. We include the mantel, the French Cleat bracket, the hardware, the super-easy-to-follow instructions, packaging & handling. (Wall anchors not included). CORRECTLY MEASURING FOR FIREPLACE MANTEL: IMPORTANT NOTE: ALL FIREPLACE MANTELS are MEASURED by the top shelf part of the mantel (the longest part) and NOT the box/body part of the mantel. The body/box part of the mantel is usually 6-8 inches shorter than the stated length (measured at the top part of the mantel shelf and NOT the box/body part). Weight Limitations: **The mantel shelf(s) should be able to hold approximately 40-50 lbs., if the bracket has at least one screw attached to a wall stud.
