To be completely transparent, these shelves are made from 100% wood…with a veneer on the outside. Why would we choose to use this type of wood? Simply put, it has a harder surface; a smoother surface. We have found that this particular type of wood is best for this type of shelf. This shelf would make a perfect wedding gift, first home gift/housewarming gift, or just a great gift for your own home. Let me share with you one of the best aspects of these shelves…They are Super Easy to install. Promise! These shelves have 5 sides and a **3-inch front profile. We’ve designed a special bracket for this particular shelf to be a “floating” shelf. The only requirement on your end is to attach both brackets to at least 1-2 wall studs on each side of the shelf. This provides the additional support needed for this shelf, as this is a heavier shelf and needs the wall studs for the support. ** The 3-inch profile is placed along the front and sides of the corner shelves, running along the bottom, in order to “hide” the underneath. Although we do finish (stain and place a protectant) the underneath exactly as the top, the Kreg holes where the boards are joined are visible if the shelves are hung high enough. NOTE: Our normal shelves have a 2-inch front profile on them…which is beautiful. However, this 3-inch front profile makes these shelves stunning! These shelves also have a 3-inch front profile. Our 3-inch front profile is a piece that is attached to the front and sides, hanging down, giving the shelf(s) the illusion of being 3 inches thick.
